The Competition and Consumer Commission of Singapore (CCS) administers and enforces Singapore’s competition, consumer protection and legal metrology laws. Amongst various things, CCS conducts investigations and takes enforcement action in appropriate cases, whilst providing effective advice to the Government and public authorities on national needs and policies in competition, consumer protection and legal metrology matters The Fair Trading Practices Division shapes, administers and enforces Singapore’s consumer protection laws. We investigate businesses suspected of engaging in unfair practices and take enforcement action where necessary. Responsibilities You will join a team handling fair trading investigations under the Consumer Protection (Fair Trading) Act. This role is suited to someone who is curious, analytical and persistent, with the judgement to assess evidence, uncover what happened and determine the appropriate course of action. • Lead investigations into suspected unfair trading practices • Gather, review and analyse information and evidence from businesses and consumers • Identify key issues, establish the facts and develop clear, evidence-based case assessments • Recommend and pursue appropriate enforcement action against errant businesses • Assess complaints and feedback to identify potential breaches and emerging patterns of consumer harm • Shape consumer protection policies and legislation • Support media, public education and outreach initiatives • Represent Singapore at ASEAN and international consumer protection forums Requirements • Strong investigative, analytical and research skills with the ability to assess complex or conflicting evidence • Experience in investigations, enforcement or regulatory work • A self-motivated, resilient and collaborative approach • Good written and verbal communication skills Join us if you are motivated by uncovering the facts, holding errant businesses to account and making a direct impact on consumer protection in Singapore.
