Step 2 · The role
You will be part of the Communications and Engagement Division, which is responsible for the conceptualisation, creation, and amplification of marketing communications materials across various channels. The team works to publicise DOS's data and data services to both whole-of-government (WOG) officers and public audiences, manages DOS's social media channels, and facilitates public understanding of data through visualisations and storytelling. This includes communicating official statistics through various channels and engaging a broad range of stakeholders including students, businesses, the media, and public sector officers. Responsibilities You will work with internal and external stakeholders to plan and execute communications strategies that position DOS as the first stop for data and data services. This role requires you to produce engaging, creative content in support of DOS's communications objectives. Key responsibilities include: • Planning and executing end-to-end communications and media plans, including media engagements for publicising data services and statistical articles, school engagements, and evaluation of outcomes to ensure effectiveness. • Developing and planning marketing communications materials for public-facing and internal channels, including EDMs, digital display panels, and event materials. This includes producing biannual statistics newsletters and accompanying publicity materials. • Reviewing press releases, press materials, and other communications collateral. • Managing day-to-day media requests, drafting media replies, and monitoring and disseminating daily media coverage. • Conceptualising, planning, and managing content for DOS's social media channels and developing digital and integrated marketing campaigns to grow DOS's social media presence and reach. • Analysing the effectiveness of communications channels and tools, and proposing effective solutions for profiling DOS’s data and data services to various stakeholders, including students, businesses, the media and public sector officers. • Researching and analysing key developments, nationally and internationally, and areas of discussions relating to communication and use of official statistics by various stakeholders. • Contributing to broader communications and engagement initiatives. Requirements We are looking for a motivated and creative communicator with the following skills and qualities: • At least 3 years of experience in marketing communications, digital engagement, or strategic communications; experience in media relations is an advantage. • Knowledge in Communications, Marketing, Digital Media, or equivalent. • Strong writing skills, including the ability to explain statistical topics clearly for general audiences. • Proficient in graphic design, photo/ video editing, and animation tools (e.g., Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, Premiere Pro, After Effects, Canva), with experience in data visualisation and storytelling. • Social media savvy, with a good grasp of the latest trends and the ability to tailor content for different audience segments across multiple channels. • Strong analytical, project management, and organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment. • Good understanding of current affairs and issues relevant to DOS's work. • A self-starter who is meticulous, resourceful, and comfortable working both independently and in a team Development Opportunities and Benefits: • DOS believes in the career development and training of our staff to bring out their best potential at work • You will be equipped with skills and subject matter know-how via in-house and external learning and development opportunities.
