Step 2 · The role
The incumbent will help to plan, develop and execute proactive and defensive strategies to drive public communications efforts for MOM's policies and programmes relating to migrant workers and migrant domestic workers. This includes developing public communications strategies, organising and developing materials for media engagements and events, identifying and correcting online misinformation, as well as cultivating good relationships with media to achieve MOM’s communications objectives. Responsibilities • The responsibilities include: o Media Communications Develop and execute media communications strategies to raise awareness and understanding, and pre-empt misperceptions on Singapore’s migrant workforce management approach, migrant worker and migrant domestic worker related policies and initiatives, as well as regulatory operations. Develop media materials, media responses and communication lines for MOM Political Office Holders and senior management. Provide communications guidance to MOM divisions and affiliated bodies on migrant worker and migrant domestic worker issues to ensure alignment with MOM’s communication priorities and key messages. o Media Relations and Issues Management Monitor mainstream and online media discourse on migrant worker and migrant domestic worker issues. Engage local and international media to strengthen understanding of Singapore’s migrant workforce policies and ensure accurate and balanced reporting. Develop and pitch story angles to media to highlight MOM’s policies and initiatives for migrant workers and migrant domestic worker issues. Support media interviews, briefings and media engagements. Support crisis management planning to test communications responses and strengthen organisational readiness. Requirements • Minimum 4-6 years' experience in the public sector and/or public communications work • Well versed in media communications, media relations and/or marketing and digital communications • Good interpersonal skills; ability to identify focus areas, interpret data, influence, negotiate and implement public communications strategies / tactics • Mature and have a keen interest in current affairs • Possess strong written and spoken communications skills • Good project management skills with ability to multi-task and deliver good outcomes under pressure and fast-changing conditions • Committed and energetic team player • Resourceful and able to respond quickly and effectively to dynamic
