The Legal Services Division (LSD) administers justice through fair prosecution and adjudication, and provides effective legal advice and solutions to advance MOM’s mission. We invite qualified candidates to apply for the following position: Legal Associate (Civil Branch) Responsibilities Legal Associates are critical team members in the Ministry who render civil legal advice, instruct on the amending of legislation and work on policy matters with a heavy legal content. You can expect a fulfilling career in the public sector and be involved in pioneering the development of Singapore employment law (e.g. workplace fairness and platform workers legislation). Your functions and duties include the following: • Rendering legal advice on issues under the Ministry’s purview (including employment law, trade unions, industrial relations, workplace safety and health, work injury compensation, foreign manpower and administrative law (including judicial review) and WTO international law); • Advising on legal issues in cases dealt with by the Ministry, such as on foreign manpower issues, work compensation, workplace fairness etc; • Reviewing, drafting and vetting legislation administered by the Ministry; • Collaborating with the Ministry’s policy divisions on legal policy projects; • Drafting, vetting and rendering advice on contracts, data disclosure agreements and MOUs; and • Conducting training on contemporary legal topics. Requirements • Be a Qualified Person under the Legal Profession Act and/or called to the Singapore Bar • Be analytical, independent and self-motivated • Possess strong communication and interpersonal skills • Be keenly interested in Singapore’s manpower and employment laws • International Law/World Trade law expertise will be an added advantage Only shortlisted candidates will be notified.
