If you would like to pursue a career in providing translation and transcription services, we invite you to be a part of the Singapore Police Force (SPF)'s Criminal Investigation Department (CID). The SPF plays a critical role in keeping Singapore safe and secure, with our mission to prevent, deter and detect crime. As a Language Executive Officer in CID, you play an important role to provide critical translation and transcription support for the SPF. You will be placed under the Language Executive Scheme. Responsibilities As a Language Executive Officer in CID, you will be responsible on the following: • Translate and transcribe audio/video recordings that are of interest to the SPF from Malay/Tamil to English (and vice versa). • Ensure accuracy and capture every word and nuance of the spoken content. • Format the written translation and transcription according to specific guidelines. • Review and proofread the translations and transcriptions for accuracy, clarity and ensure readability and coherence. • Translate media releases, advisories or any information prepared by the SPF for publicity or dissemination to the general public. • Be prepared to respond to any urgent translation and transcription duties during operational emergencies which involve short-notice activation that may arise outside of regular working hours. • Must be able to work in a fast paced and highly volatile environment that would require the ability to meet very short turnaround times and deadlines effectively, efficiently and with a high level of accuracy. • Attend court proceedings when required. Requirements • Proficient in MS Office skills • Good time management skills • Strong listening skills with attention to detail and accuracy • Good communication skills to liaise with different stakeholders. • Relevant certifications and prior experience in transcription and/or translation work will be an advantage.
