Step 2 · The role

Social and Community DevelopmentService Deliverycontract

The Social Support Group (SSP) oversees all policy, planning and delivery of social services for low-income and vulnerable families, including persons with disabilities. The Service Delivery Division (SD) oversees all direct operations, including Social Service Offices (SSOs), service management of Family Service Centres, administration of schemes for student and childcare and Student Care Centre operations. Responsibilities As a Family Coach (FC) within the SSO, you will support the implementation of Community Link (ComLink), an initiative that provides proactive and integrated family-centric support to low-income, vulnerable families with children living in rental flats with the aim of empowering them to achieve Stability, Self-reliance and, ultimately, Social mobility (3‘S’). You will maintain regular engagement with these families. These regular engagements will allow you to (1) befriend the family to build trust and rapport, (2) work with the family to come up with an action plan that would help them address their needs and achieve their aspirations, (3) coordinate with various agencies to bring in assistance for the families, where needed and (4) monitor the families’ progress towards achieving 3‘S’ goals. In delivering social support to these families, you are required to work closely with the team of MSF officers and other stakeholders such as government organisations, Social Service Agencies, Advisers & their grassroots leaders, community partners, as well as volunteers. Requirements Candidate must be passionate about supporting vulnerable families and possess the following competencies: • Degree and/or Grad Dip in Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, Community Development or related degrees would be advantageous • Advantageous to have at least 3 years of relevant working experience in engagement or social service sector, and able to work independently • Strong interpersonal and communication (written and presentation) skills • Strong analytical, planning and problem-solving skills • Proactive and self-motivated worker • Effective team-player • Empathetic • Able to speak a vernacular language/dialect would be advantageous • Meticulous • Stakeholder Engagement (Befriending experience, motivational interviewing and assessment skills would be an advantage) • Community Development • Project Management • Candidates who have relevant volunteering/working experience in the social service sector or other roles that help the needy would be an advantage. • He/she should be able to engage multiple parties, who may have differing views, to develop an integrated and coordinated client-centric plans that are in the families’ best interest.
