Review and Enhancement of External Sector Statistics Compilation Processes; Research on International Statistical Standards You will support the improvement of statistical data compilation processes through workflow optimisation and methodological enhancement as well as the research on new international statistical standards. The project will provide exposure to Balance of Payments (BOP) and International Investment Position (IIP) statistics, including an understanding of the underlying concepts and hands-on experience with official statistics compilation cycle, including data collection and processing to estimation and evaluation. You will also gain practical insights in change management when implementing new statistcal standards. Responsibilities Workflow optimisation - Review existing data processing workflows to identify bottlenecks and opportunities to streamline or automate - Recommend and implement workflow improvements to enhance productivity Methodological enhancement - Explore and evaluate alternative data sources for estimating, imputing or modelling of missing or unavailable data - Assess the feasibility and robustness of alternative compilation approaches (e.g. modelling, estimation, imputation) through comparative analysis - Recommend and implement enhanced compilation approaches (e.g. modelling, estimation, imputation) into existing processes Research on international statistical standards - Conduct research and assessment on newly released/ updated international statistical standards and compare against existing versions - Assess the potential implications of these changes on current data collection, compilation, and dissemination processes - Prepare comprehensive documentation summarising the key differences and implementation considerations to facilitate future assessment and transition planning Requirements - Strong data analytics skills with Python programming experience - Proactive learner with interest in External Sector (e.g., investment and trade) Statistics - Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail. - Ability to work independently and as part of a team. - Knowledge or experience in statistics, economics, mathematics, data analytics, or related quantitative areas. - Internship Period: 6 months, from Jan to Jun 2027 (flexible start and end dates)
