The Middle East & Africa (MEA) Division's primary role is to provide in-market assistance to Singapore-based companies looking to expand their international footprint to the Middle East and African countries by identifying and developing opportunities there, including exports, overseas investments, joint ventures, and other business alliances. In addition, the MEA Division cultivates and attract international traders to be based in Singapore. Responsibilities This portfolio plays a key part in driving Overseas Market Expansion and Government-to-Government engagements. Overseas Market Expansion The job entails helping Singapore companies enter the market and/or grow their presence in Africa. This includes: • Close monitoring of the political and economic landscapes in Africa; • Understanding of Singapore companies' operations in Africa; • Identifying opportunities and challenges, including regulatory roadblocks and in-market practices; and • Developing and implementing strategies and projects to build strategic partnerships and facilitate market access. Government-to-Government engagements You will also work closely with various Government-to-Government agencies to foster bilateral trade and economic relations between Africa and Singapore. Requirements What You’ll Be Using and Applying • Experience in government policy formulation, international relations and/or business or market development (3-5 years required). • Experience in handling challenging situations and/or projects independently. • Ability to apply strong analytical, communication and interpersonal skills as well as discernment of policy implications and market/business opportunities in a work setting. • Ability to apply teamwork and collaboration skills in a professional environment. • Ability to apply resourceful and entrepreneurial thinking with relentless tenacity, and skills that bridge ideas into action. • Tertiary qualification (candidates without the required qualification but with relevant experience are welcome to apply). • Proficiency in French language is advantageous. ​How We Work Together We value individuals who work well with others, communicate clearly, take ownership of their work, and are open to learning and improvement.
