Step 2 · The role
The Trade and International Economics Relations (TIER) cluster drives the formulation of Singapore's foreign economic policy and advances Singapore's economic interests in the international economic arena. As a TIER officer in the Southeast Asia and Oceania (SEAO) Division in the Ministry of Trade and Industry, you will develop and implement Singapore's strategy of engaging the vibrant markets of Southeast Asia and Oceania. These include bilateral platforms, initiatives, economic agreements, and ministerial visits. In this role, you will gain valuable experience in working in an international environment and shaping Singapore's bilateral economic relations with countries in the Southeast Asia and Oceania region. You will also develop first-hand knowledge about your markets through official trips, study visits and business missions. Responsibilities • Coordinate with ministries and agencies on Singapore’s economic and trade policy interests, and with foreign counterparts to strengthen economic cooperation. • Consult with a diversity of stakeholders, including trade and business associations to understand commercial interests. • Analyse, report, and provide policy recommendations on geopolitical and economic developments concerning Singapore's trade interests in these markets. • Formulate policies to grow Singapore's economic relations with the Southeast Asia and Oceania markets. • Prepare briefs, reports, notes of meeting, speeches, and press statements. • Organising and facilitating incoming and outgoing visits by political office holders and officials, courtesy calls, and meetings. Requirements Keen interest in international affairs and economic developments. • Excellent writing, analytical, and communication skills, as well as multi-tasking and organisational skills. • Independent worker who is energetic, resilient, and able to work effectively with multiple stakeholders • Must be a team player
