Step 2 · The role
Singapore is internationally renowned for our transport infrastructure and for being a global aviation and maritime hub. At the Ministry of Transport (MOT), we spearhead developments in our air, land and sea transport sectors to advance Singapore’s economic competitiveness and Singaporeans’ quality of life. We seek dynamic, analytical and committed individuals to join our able MOT team in realising our vision of a global interconnected transport hub. If you share our vision and possess the qualities we seek, do join us! Responsibilities Our air hub is of strategic and existential importance for Singapore. It supports economic links and people-to-people flows with the rest of the world, and catalyses growth opportunities for the Singapore economy. As competition from other air hubs in the region intensifies, we must ensure our air hub’s competitiveness for today and the future. This includes developing strategies to support Singapore’s air connectivity with other regions and countries, to deepen our passenger and cargo networks in a globally contestable market. This also includes reviewing the development and adoption of forward-looking air navigation concepts and systems, as well as policies to ensure the Singapore air hub remains safe, meets its sustainability goals, prioritises manpower productivity, and is future-ready. Looking to the future, the Changi East/ Terminal 5 development is a significant mega-project that will be operational by the mid-2030s. The team works closely with stakeholders on the planning and project management of this critical project. This includes planning for and reviewing its design, financing, and operations, to ensure that Changi will continue to remain competitive, efficient, and a place for Singaporeans. Beyond the Changi Air Hub, the team also collaborates closely with partner agencies to shape policy positions and develop strategies to develop a Low Altitude Economy in Singapore that supports citizens and businesses. In the course of your work, you will develop and review policies, which will include the collation and analysis of data, and a good understanding of the aviation ecosystem that supports our air hub. You will work closely with the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore and other Government agencies. You will also be required to work with key industry stakeholders such as the Changi Airport Group, airlines, and ground handlers. Requirements a. Strong critical reasoning, with good analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills. b. Excellent writing and communication. c. Good interpersonal skills, able to work well with diverse stakeholders with different interests, to drive collaboration, convergence and concrete outcomes. d. Comfortable with ambiguity, with a bias towards action, and a curiosity that drives learning. e. Good team player with a positive, can-do attitude.
