Step 2 · The role
Responsibilities • You will develop, review, and update operational policies for WSH and WIC functions, ensuring they are legally grounded, operationally practical, and aligned with prevailing legislation and OSHD's strategic direction. You will conduct periodic reviews to keep policies current in response to legislative changes, emerging risks, and operational feedback, and work to identify and resolve gaps or inconsistencies across the suite of policies covering enforcement, engagement, and communications. • You will work closely with enforcement, engagement, and communications departments to gather ground-level feedback on the practicability of existing policies and liaise with legal and policy teams to ensure operational policies are anchored in legislative intent. Where operational policies interface with external parties, you will engage industry associations, unions, and other government agencies as appropriate. • You will also track feedback, incidents, and operational outcomes to assess policy effectiveness, and lead reviews and recommend revisions where gaps or issues are identified, drawing on insights from teams such as OSH Policy (WPSD), Ops Planning, WSHC, and CED. Requirements • We are looking for a motivated individual with a tertiary qualification, preferably in Engineering or a related science discipline, and at least three years of experience in WSH or WIC work with meaningful exposure to enforcement, engagement, or policy functions. Experience in developing or reviewing operational guidelines, SOPs, or regulatory frameworks would be an advantage. • You should have strong analytical and conceptual abilities, sound knowledge of WSH and WIC laws and legal principles, and excellent written and interpersonal communication skills. You are detail-oriented, results-driven, and able to manage multiple policy workstreams concurrently under pressure. The ability to reconcile operational realities with policy intent, and to coordinate effectively across departments and functions, will be key to success in this role.
