Step 2 · The role

Policy FormulationPolicy & Planningfull-timemanager

You assist in working closely with MINDEF and SAF Joint/Services to strategise and plan SAF's defence relations efforts with Countries of Interest to achieve policy outcomes. You also maintain an overarching view of defence relations engagements across MINDEF and the SAF to ensure alignment and understanding of overall SAF's outcomes. Responsibilities - Plan and oversee defence relations calendar of events for identified SAF leaderships - Coordinate with various internal stakeholders - Assess implications of developments on SAF policy - Develop deep expertise in each country's strategic dynamics, key issues, personalities and perceptions of Singapore/SAF - Identify emerging trends - Conduct research, synthesise information and present informed recommendations - Prepare briefs and briefing folders Challenge(s) - Managing dynamic nature of defence relations which may be adversely affected by geopolitical developments - Providing quick assessments of events in ever-changing security environment - Discerning and distilling wide-ranging sources of information which can impact the SAF and its operations Requirements - Education in International Relations, Political Science, History or Social Sciences related fields - Strong command of written and spoken English, proficiency in second language advantageous - Keen interest in current trends across Singapore's political/geopolitical, defence and security developments - Team player who is motivated and motivational - Good interpersonal skills - Enjoy creative work and demonstrate innovative spirit in dealing with issues - Strategic thinking ability with capability to provide quick assessments (Applicants with no experience may apply.)
