You will be leading a pioneering team driving the enterprise transformation of MSD by defining the strategy, architecture, and operationalisation of Sovereign Artificial Intelligence (AI) capabilities. You will provide strategic direction and governance for localised AI platforms and frameworks within high-security environments. You will ensure that enterprise-wide model deployments, engineering pipelines, and rapid prototyping capabilities are securely integrated and strictly compliant with established security policies and infrastructure control frameworks. This is both a digital and cybersecurity role, where you will balance the rapid acceleration of AI initiatives with the critical mandate to secure advanced computational workloads, ensuring the ongoing integrity, privacy, and defence of our AI capabilities against emerging threats. Responsibilities You will be directing the design, implementation, and lifecycle management of local GPU hosting infrastructure, containerised MLOps environments, and foundational AI/LLM architectures. You will also be overseeing interconnected foundational initiatives, such as comprehensive data lakehouse architectures, to ensure secure and optimised data ingestion. You will be sponsoring and driving the strategic execution of flagship pilot programs and AI-powered rapid prototyping engines. This includes securing senior leadership approvals, managing vendor partnerships, optimising enterprise inference performance, and formulating automated operational runbooks to sustain highly resilient AI services. You will also be building, mentoring, and empowering a high-performing team of technology professionals. You will be managing resource allocation, overseeing project budgets, and establishing the operational workflows required to support continuous innovation and robust service delivery. Requirements You should have a tertiary education, preferably in AI Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related fields, with at least six years of relevant experience in IT infrastructure, AI/ML deployment, including time serving in a supervisory capacity managing complex enterprise systems. Strong architectural knowledge of container orchestration, AI model deployment frameworks, and specialised high-performance compute/GPU environments is highly advantageous. You must possess good strategic thinking, written, and verbal communication skills to influence senior leadership and align technology roadmaps with business objectives. You must be an empowering leader with a proactive mindset to navigate the rapidly evolving AI technological landscape.
