The Trade and International Economic Relations (TIER) cluster drives the formulation of Singapore's foreign economic policy and advances Singapore's economic interests in the international economic arena. We are seeking a skilled and motivated individual to join our team as an Assistant/Senior Assistant Director in the Trade Strategy and Security Division in MTI. In this role, you will help develop policies and strategies to advance and safeguard Singapore’s economic and security interests in the international arena. You will also be MTI’s counterparty to other Government agencies and key committees that cover the range of geo-political and security spheres. Responsibilities As a TIER officer in the Trade Strategy and Security Division, you will be part of a dynamic team working on fast-moving pieces to help Singapore navigate changes in our geo-economic environment. You will have the opportunity to hone your strategic thinking skillset, policy acumen, and international orientation perspectives in both the economic and security domains, by: • Assessing the impact and implications of geo-political developments on Singapore’s economic and security interests; • Developing strategies, policies, options and responses to expand Singapore’s economic heft or relevance as well as strengthen Singapore’s economic resilience; • Preparing and executing communications and engagement strategies with key public and private sector stakeholders; • Organising and representing MTI at various high-level inter-agency platforms related to economic, security, and geo-political portfolios; and • Collaborating and networking with various internal and external stakeholders. Requirements We are looking for dedicated team players who thrive in a fast-paced environment with: • Relevant field of study in International Relations, Political Science, Public Policy, Economics, Business, Finance, Accounting or any related discipline; • Keen interest in the geo-political environment, as well as economic and security issues; • Experience in policy formulation and data analysis; • Excellent analytical, writing, communication, and presentation skills; and • Strong project management and stakeholder management skills.
