ISD confronts and addresses threats to Singapore’s internal security and stability. For over 75 years, ISD and its predecessor organisations have played a central role in countering threats such as those posed by foreign subversive elements, spies, racial and religious extremists, and terrorists. Responsibilities As an Applied R&D Engineer, you will take on the following roles & responsibilities: • Conduct pioneering research and develop new capabilities, and review or refine existing programmes, operations, procedures and systems • Develop prototype software and applications for different platforms (Windows, Linux, Android and iOS) • Design and build hardware prototypes • Engage partners and stakeholders to scope research objectives, propose plans, conduct trials and report findings for strategic planning • Manage research collaborations and conduct field trials with both overseas and local tertiary institutions/ consultants/ vendors on research projects or initiatives on fields of interest Requirements • Applicants should preferably be knowledgeable or proficient in at least one of the below fields: o Internet communication, mobile communications, wireless and radio frequency technologies o Video and audio acquisition and management systems o Signal processing including audio/ speech, video and multi-media processing o Media analytics, machine learning and artificial intelligence o Electronics and circuit design • Experience in doing research, especially evaluation research, is preferred. • Expertise in quantitative research methods and analysis is preferred. Those with qualitative skills may also be considered • Skills in programming, coding and scripting • Able to exercise good judgment in determining problem resolutions and approaches to solutions • Able to work both independently and in a team in a fast-paced environment • Have the interest to develop solutions for real-world use • Good communication, presentation and writing skills • Only Singaporeans need apply We wish to inform that only shortlisted candidates will be notified.
