We are looking for a Senior Database Administrator to join our team to support the migration, administration and modernization of platforms supporting enterprise applications. You will play a key role in database migration to Government Commercial Cloud (GCC) (on AWS or Azure). The successful candidate will be responsible for the full database lifecycle, including installation, configuration, upgrades, patching, performance tuning, backup and recovery, high availability, disaster recovery and operational support. The role also involves evaluating and adopting the latest AI Database capabilities to support future platform modernization. The successful candidate will also work closely with existing vendors and internal stakeholders to ensure successful delivery of database migration, upgrade and operational support activities. Responsibilities • Lead the migration of Oracle Database 19c environments to Government Commercial Cloud (GCC) on AWS and Azure, ensuring minimal disruption to business operations. • Design, implement and maintain database replication between on-premises and cloud environments. • Plan and execute Oracle database installations, configuration, upgrades and database lifecycle management. • Perform proactive database administration, including performance tuning, SQL optimization, capacity planning, health monitoring and preventive maintenance to ensure database availability, reliability and performance. • Design, implement and maintain backup, recovery, High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) solutions. • Apply database patches, security updates and configuration changes while ensuring compliance with organisational security policies and industry best practices. • Collaborate with application, infrastructure, cloud and DevOps teams to support application deployments, system integration and cloud migration initiatives. • Troubleshoot complex database and infrastructure issues, perform root cause analysis, automate operational tasks using scripting where appropriate, and maintain comprehensive technical documentation. • Collaborate with existing vendors and cross-functional teams, including application, infrastructure and cloud teams, to deliver database migration, implementation, maintenance and operational support. Requirements • Knowledge in Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent degree. • Minimum 7 years of experience in Oracle Database design, implementation and administration in enterprise environments. • Strong hands-on experience administering Oracle Database 19c, including installation, configuration, upgrades, patching, performance tuning, backup & recovery and database security. • Proven experience planning and executing Oracle database migrations from on-premises infrastructure to cloud platforms, preferably Government Commercial Cloud (GCC) on AWS or Azure. • Strong hands-on experience with Oracle High Availability, Disaster Recovery and migration technologies, including Oracle GoldenGate, Data Guard, RMAN and Zero Downtime Migration (ZDM) • Familiarity with Oracle AI Database technologies, including Oracle AI Database 26ai, Oracle APEX, Select AI and related database capabilities. • Experience administering Oracle databases on Linux platforms and deploying database workloads to cloud environments (AWS and/or Azure). • Proficiency in scripting and automation using Shell, Python or equivalent scripting languages to improve database administration and operational efficiency. • Relevant Oracle Database, Oracle Cloud and cloud platform certifications are preferred. • Team player with strong analytical, troubleshooting and interpersonal skills.
