HTX is Singapore's Science and Technology agency that brings together diverse scientific and engineering capabilities to develop transformative, operationally ready solutions for public safety. As a statutory board under the Ministry of Home Affairs, HTX works at the forefront of science and technology to empower the Home Team with cutting-edge capabilities. Guided by our mission to amplify, augment and accelerate the Home Team's advantage, we are committed to keeping Singapore the safest place on planet Earth. We are looking for aspiring candidates to be part of a dynamic and multidisciplinary team to drive in-house applied R&D for UAS within the RAUS CoE (Aerial Systems domain), developing and maturing autonomy and system capabilities. Execute software, algorithm and system development, while ensuring alignment with Ops-Tech Masterplan and supporting transition of validated technologies into operational use. Responsibilities • Design, implement and validate GNC algorithms for UAVs • Develop strategies not limited to path planning, trajectory generation and multi-agent coordination to fulfill the project’s intended use case • Study and analyze relevant classical and state‑of‑the‑art research literature to derive, adapt or extend suitable solutions for the problem domain • Where suitable, translate theoretical concepts from research papers into practical, implementable algorithms • Evaluate algorithm performance, and robustness through simulation and flight tests • Develop/modify/adapt and maintain flight controller software/firmware • Integrate and interface with onboard sensors such as but not limited to RGB/RGB‑D cameras, LiDAR, ToF and inertial sensors, ensuring reliable data pipelines for downstream functions • Where needed, implement perception, localization and state estimation modules, including computer vision, sensor fusion and filtering techniques • Support system integration, debugging and performance verification via simulation testing, hardware/software in the loop testing and flight testing • Apply software development processes, including modular design, version control, testing, and configuration management • Document system/software architectures, algorithm designs, test methodologies and results in a clear and structured manner • Communicate technical findings and tradeoffs effectively within the team and to stakeholders. Requirements • Possess more than 2 years of experience in software and algorithm development for UAS • Experience in UAS guidance, navigation and controls, path planning or multi‑robot systems is strongly preferred • Proficiency in C/C++ and Python for robotics/autonomy applications • Experience with simulation platforms such as Gazebo, AirSim, or other effective robotics/UAS simulation environments preferred • Familiarity with open‑source UAV flight control software such as PX4 and/or ArduPilot, including architecture, interfaces and limitations • Familiarity with open‑source UAV flight controller hardware (e.g. Pixhawk variants or equivalent) • Experience integrating navigation, localization and autonomy algorithms on Linux-based companion compute devices on the UAV (CPU and/or GPU) • Working knowledge of ROS/ROS2, MAVLink, and related middleware for inter‑process and vehicle communication • Experience with GNSS‑denied localization and navigation, sensor fusion, computer vision and/or perception‑driven autonomy • Exposure to RGB, RGB D, LiDAR, ToF or inertial sensors and their use in autonomous systems. • This role is primarily a software and autonomy engineering position; familiarity with electronics and mechanical systems is an added bonus • Minimum of bachelor’s degree in engineering; preferably Degree in Electrical / Electronics / Mechanical / Mechatronics / System Engineering / Computer Science / Computer Engineering • Post-graduate degree in robotics, autonomous systems and controls would be an advantage All new hires are appointed on a two-year contract in the first instance and will be assessed and considered for permanent tenure over time, based on performance. As part of the shortlisting process for this role, you may be required to complete a medical declaration and/or undergo further assessment. All applicants will be updated on the status of their applications within 4 weeks upon closing of the advertisement. #LI-CW1
