Family Coach, SSP/SD (Part-Time)

The Social Support Group (SSP) oversees policies, planning and social services for lower-income and vulnerable families, including persons with disabilities. The Service Delivery Division (SD) oversees operations such as Social Service Offices (SSOs), Family Service Centres, student and childcare schemes, and Student Care Centre operations. Responsibilities As a Part-Time Family Coach within the SSO, you will support the implementation of Community Link (ComLink), which supports lower-income families with children towards Stability, Self-Reliance and Social Mobility (3S). You will manage an assigned caseload and engage families regularly to assess their needs, develop action plans, coordinate support and review progress. Your responsibilities include: • Engage assigned families to understand their needs, risks, strengths and goals. • Engage assigned families regularly to review progress, identify new needs and arrange follow-up support where needed. • Assess families’ needs and work with them to develop and review practical action plans. • Break agreed goals into manageable steps and support families to follow through. • Coordinate referrals and support across agencies and community partners, where needed. • Take part in case discussions and share relevant information to coordinate support. • Track families’ progress towards 3S outcomes and update action plans when needed. • Support relevant ComLink initiatives and assess families’ readiness and suitability for progress packages. • Keep case records up to date and provide updates to the supervising team. In delivering support, you will work closely with MSF officers and stakeholders such as government agencies, social service agencies, schools, Advisers and grassroots leaders, community partners and volunteers. Requirements Candidates should be interested in supporting lower-income and vulnerable families and have the following: • A degree and/or Graduate Diploma in Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, Community Development or a related discipline would be advantageous. • Relevant experience in engagement, family support, case management, social services or community work, with the ability to manage an assigned caseload independently. • Strong interpersonal, written communication, facilitation and coordination skills. • Good planning and problem-solving skills, with the ability to turn assessed needs into practical actions. • Able to relate well to families and support them to work towards agreed goals. • Able to work with different partners and coordinate support for families. • Able to work independently and as part of a team, with attention to detail. • Ability to speak a vernacular language or dialect would be advantageous.
